School of Humanities was established in July 2009, it was integrated by Department of Social Science of the original School of Humanities and the Department of Chinese, Department of Journalism and Department of Communications of the original School of Arts and Communications. The original School of Humanities was established in June 2002, its predecessor is Marxism-Leninism Teaching Department. The original School of Arts and Communications was established in the original Department of Economic Arts. The current dean is Chen Jiaqi.
The School of Humanities has four teaching departments: Department of Chinese, Department of Journalism, Department of Communications and Department of Sociology. It has 4 master's degree programs: Ancient Chinese Literature, Communications, Broadcasting Television Arts and Sociology, among them "Chinese Ancient Literature" is a key discipline in Jiangxi province. In addition, our Master of Social Work Degree (MSW) was approved in July 2009, and is the only full-time Master of Social Work degree program in Jiangxi province.
The school has a faculty of 67, of whom 60 are full-time teachers, 7 full-time administrative staff, 9 professors, 11 associate professors, 38 lecturers; there are 25 doctors, 7 doctoral tutors; there are 3 provincial subject leaders, 3 provincial and ministerial level young backbone teachers, 22 tutors of Master.
In terms of research, the school always put the development of humanities and social sciences research as a sacred duty of improving the quality of teaching and cultivating enterprising talents. In the past five years, the school published more than 200 papers in core academic journals, 30 papers were reprinted by "Xinhua Digest", "People's Congress Newspaper Copy Data" and other newspapers. The school has presided over the completion of 2 National Social Science Fund and 26 provincial research projects, and is in the progress of 3 National Social Science Fund, 2 Ministry of Education, and 12 provincial level research projects. The school published 12 academic monographs, 1 translation work, edited or participated in the edition of more than 10 textbooks. The school won 23 awards at the provincial level or above, including 1 Ministry of Education Excellent Teaching Achievement Second Prize, Jiangxi Provincial Social Sciences outstanding achievement award, Jiangxi Provincial Social Science Youth outstanding achievement award, Jiangxi Provincial Colleges Humanities and Social Sciences outstanding achievement award, and won 12 university-level awards.
